I remember the 1st months after my separation. I was working full time, raising 2 kids and doing all I could to keep it together. I needed someone to talk to, someone who would understand. I had many around me who were friends and family of both of us but I either felt like I couldn’t share how I was truly feeling or that they would not be objective enough to really hear me. It was a very lonely time. And sometimes because I had shared, more drama would enter the picture causing more issues to have to deal with.

I needed to find a place where I could feel safe, a place where I could share and people would understand. A place where I could get some objective advice and find support for my children as well. I found this place…and it’s called DivorceCare.

DivorceCare is a wonderful 13 week program that is designed to help walk you through all the phases of separation and divorce. From loneliness to anger, to depression to forgiveness. It is full of great advice from great people who have either walked this same journey or totally understand what you are going through. It is a place of no judgment, a place of complete acceptance and encouragement. It was my place of complete safety, where I felt loved and cared for, during one of the most difficult times in my life.

I would encourage everyone who is either separated or divorced to attend this group. They are all around the United States and even in many countries. All you need to do is google www.divorcecare.org and a zip code search will come up. Put in your zip code and in just a few seconds you will find where the closest groups are to you and when they meet. I highly encourage you to check this out. You will not regret it!

As an extra bonus, some groups will also offer a program for you kids ages 5 to 11 called DC4K. If you have kids in this age group, it is a must! Please check it out and let me know what you think.

Blessings on your search for peace in your journey….
