What resolutions did you set for this year?

 

Happy 2018. What resolutions did you set for this year? My year came in with a bang as my father in law had a heart attack and had triple by pass open heart surgery on January 2nd. I’m hoping things will slow down now and I can have a “do over”.

Like me, someone of us aren’t sure how we feel about a new year. But 2018 is here, whether we like it or not. Sometimes it can be scary, sometimes it can be exciting, and most of the time it all happens at the same time. If you are looking for a do-over, it may be time for a “redirect”. Do children experience “stages” of divorce?

For years, people who work with children of divorce have wondered what the stages of grief are for these kids. One children’s minister asked me, “How can I help a child of divorce when I don’t know what the stages of grief are? Explain them to me, please.”

Many have held onto the stages of grief developed by Elisabeth Kübler-Ross.Basically, those stages are denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and hope. Kübler-Ross says that over the years, people have misunderstood the stages of grief: “They were never meant to help tuck messy emotions into neat packages.”
